Kathleen Mason

Kathleen Mason is the Assistant Commissioner of the Division of Senior Benefits and Utilization Management.  Her responsibilities include the administration of the New Jersey Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Aged and Disabled (PAAD) and Senior Gold Prescription Discount programs.  Ms. Mason has worked for the PAAD program since 1979.  She started her career at PAAD as an hourly employee and over the years took on added responsibilities and continued to move up through the organization with several Civil Service titles.  Ms. Mason was responsible for the implementation of the coordination of the PAAD and Senior Gold programs with the Medicare Part D program.

In addition, she manages the New Jersey Medicaid Nursing Facility Rate Setting program, the New Jersey Lifeline Utility Assistance Program, the Hearing Aid Assistance to the Aged and Disabled Program, and financial eligibility determinations for the AIDS Drugs Distribution Program and the Specified Low Income Medicare Beneficiary Program.  These programs serve over 360,000 beneficiaries and have a combined budget of over $2 billion.

A graduate of St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Ms. Mason received a master’s degree in Public Administration from Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.
